Talk of the Beach: Lugar Bonito & Obama Grill

A few months ago, while vacationing in Boracay, I’ve been hearing from friends, locals and even the other hotels’ staff about a charming new boutique hotel in Boat Station 1. They described the place as the “small, white boutique hotel with a moon and mermaid ornament” named Lugar Bonito.

I first heard about Lugar Bonito from my friend and website designer Mia de Lara. She told me that interior stylist Kitty Bunag and her were working on a project in Boracay and she knew I was in the island and that I would be interested in checking out the place.

Tara gow!

Lugar Bonito’s design is reminiscent of Greece’s Cycladic architecture—white-washed cube houses.

Lovely blue & white tiles

The rooms:

Lugar Bonito only has six rooms and a penthouse which owners Manoy and Lee Therese Llige occupy when they’re on the island.

The rooms are so chic!

Photine (light) – Light and bright, the perfect room for the family with the view of the sea.

Bion (life) and Photine (light) – Family Rooms – Family rooms where you can relax and enjoy after swimming in the beautiful waters of Boracay just a few steps away from the hotel.

More chic rooms

Clockwise: Hilarion (cheerful) – Superior Room; Kallias (beauty); Penthouse; Thales (blossom) – Standard Room

Myron (sweet) – A sweet room for two or simply for a sweet girl like me. Choz! LOL

This was my room during my stay at Lugar Bonito. Check out the Neiman Marcus Tiffany chair! It’s fabulous!

Cool space-saving storage

Clean and chic bathroom

I wore my Josie Natori colorful robe pops in Lugar Bonito’s all-white interior!

It takes a special boutique hotel to make an impact on busy Boracay. With so many resorts and other hotels sprouting like mushrooms on the island, Lugar Bonito’s chic interior design (and clever space planning too) is a cut above the rest.

Thank you Manoy and Lee Llige! You are the hostesses with the mostest!

Across Lugar Bonito is the famed Obama Grill. Ever since I posted it on IG, everyone is asking: why did the owners named the resto/bar after President Obama?

According to Manoy, the mantra of his staff is the same as Barack Obama’s: yes, we can!

In my opinion, Obama Grill has the best baby back ribs on the island! The sauce is amazing and the meat is grilled to perfection.

Juicy and smokey goodness

The Seafood Platter is a must!

Feel free to dunk the seafood in the butter pool!

I love ceviche and Obama Grill’s Kinilaw rocks!

When at the beach, shake it!

You can also spike your shakes or booze up at their bar

Visit Obama Grill!

This coming Labor Day, make sure to book your room at Lugar Bonito and eat at Obama Grill. You’ll love it!
