Let’s start the year happy! The year 2013 is full of new opportunities – carpe diem – seize the day; enjoy the present and don’t worry about the future; it’s a beautiful day! Live happy!
The Eppersons are starting the year with a family project:
My daughter Aryanna, introduced me to the idea of this Happiness Jar. She read it online (Eat, Pray, & Love author Elizabeth Gilbert’s Facebook wall) and told me about it.
It is simple: every day, you write down on a piece of paper something that happened to you that made you happy, write the date, fold it up, and stick it in a jar. Easy!
It is a great way to constantly remind ourselves that happiness is all around us: family, friends, pets, shoes, bags, love, life… Anything!
It’s only been a week since Tom, Aryanna and I started the Happiness Jar and we already feel good about it. This project allows us to focus more on what’s important and to be grateful for the simple things in life. In fact, we write more than once a day.
On the last day of last year we open the jar and read the notes. In doing so, hopefully, we remember just how wonderful our lives actually were.
It’s practically impossible not to have anything to be grateful for because there is so much to be thankful for, I mean, I’m so happy it’s 2013 — we survived the 12/21/12 apocalypse! Haha!
If you’re going through challenges in your life, trust me, this Happiness Jar can help uplift your spirits. Remember, the jar is merely a container, it’s what you put inside that counts. Count your happiness!
Shoppingero/Shoppingera, what are you grateful for?
