Decorating for Easter

When the palaspas and bunnies come out, you know it’s going to be a happy day. We welcome both Christ and the Easter Bunny into our lives this Easter.

Easter is also the transition into Spring or in our case, Summer, so no matter which direction you take your Easter egg-inspired decor, the goal should be to keep things light.

Keeping it stylish — not cheesy. The key to decorating for Easter without getting cheesy is to keep things simple: Small and subtle items make for an overall elegant and fun statement.

Let’s play bahay-bahayan, shall we?

Itlog lang ang katapat! LOL

Tip: Glass containers filled with Easter eggs are stylish and affordable decorations for the home.

Easter blooms! I’ve had this bunch of Statice flowers for ten weeks already and they still look amazing! It’s the perfect flower for any occasion!

Tip: Throw pillows on your living room sofas create a new feel without looking overly decorated.

Tip: Put out a decorative bowl and fill it with brightly colored Easter candies to add an element of fun.

What’s Easter without candies? Got these Whoppers Mini Robin Eggs at the grocery, they are malted milk candies in a crunchy shell. I love the Spring colors too!

Check out what’s waiting on our bar cart! We’re ready for the Easter egg hunt tomorrow!

Meet Roger, my son Dylan's rabbit stuffed toy.

Easter is about new beginnings. Start creating a fun and fab space in your home and office. For example, resurrect a drab room with a fresh coat of paint or buy new throw pillows to accessorize an old couch.

It’s time to welcome Summer with a new perspective and a fresh vibe in your life and in your homes.

Shoppingero/shoppingera, are you ready for Easter? What preparations have you made?

On the Dot

They say that wearing polka dots on New Year’s Eve will bring good fortune as circles are a symbol of prosperity. Done.

I don’t know if the same goes for your home but I’m not taking any chances. This year, I also dressed my nest with polka dots and displayed circular objects around Maison Epperson.

Holidays give me the opportunity to redecorate our home. As usual, I change our curtains and throw pillows to give it a fresh look. I also moved things around the apartment — I borrowed Aryanna's rug from her room and hung Tom's old skateboard. I love how it looks on our wall!

Maison Epperson is on topiary steroids for the New Year! I love displaying them around the apartment!

Artificial topiaries add natural beauty to your home without the work associated with live topiaries.

The Marimekko throw pillows I bought from my trip to Guam finally got some showtime!

New Year’s Eve dinner is just as celebratory as Christmas dinner. It’s all about creating a festive tablescape for the whole family to enjoy.

Round and round it goes, where it stops nobody knows... More polka dots and round objects on the throw pillow and Tom's Marbles from his '12 Below' series

In keeping with the polka dots theme, I used the new Marimekko porcelain plates In Good Company designed by Sami Ruotsalainen I got in Guam.

In good company this New Year. Marimekko In Good Company Siirtolapuutarha porcelain plate 25 cm; Gold glass charger; Moroccan gold flatware; Vintage pink glass; Gold handmade, hand-painted crystal Champagne flute; White silk napkin

I propped faux berry topiaries on mint julep goblets and used them as centerpiece. The simplicity of the topiaries balance the decadent tableware.

Remember my my DIY holly arrangement two years ago?

New Year brunch set-up:

I wanted to create a sparkling and festive tablescape to ring in the new year without looking ghetto. A black, white, and silver theme seems appropriate for brunch.

Using the classics with a touch of diamante.

Fruits for the New Year as centerpiece

Same plate, different placemat, stemware and flatware. It’s amazing how changing the colors of your table accessories can totally change the look of your table setting!

Shine bright like a diamond this 2013!!!

I did my best to attract good fortune and abundance this year. Now it’s all about preparing for the responsibilities they entail. I’m ready!!!

Tune in for more New Year celebration posts!
