DIY: Sparkling Juice December 31, 2012
When there’s something to celebrate, I’d like to do it with Champagne. Some people toast with wine or tequila but I prefer bumping crystals with bubbly. There’s nothing more festive than those tiny bubbles swimming in long-stemmed flutes!
Le sigh: Tom doesn’t like Champagne (woohoo! More for me! Haha!) and my kids are too young to drink but I’d like to include them in the celebration.
Light bulb moment: Make homemade sparkling juice! It’s super easy to make and more affordable than store-bought sparkling juices.
Toast to the New Year with the whole family, including your toddler, with some homemade bubbly!
Homemade Sparkling Calamansi Juice
• Any type of juice concentrate. I prefer concentrated calamansi juice. You could also use white or red grape or apple.
• Soda water
• Ice cubes
Step 1: Follow the directions of the concentrated juice pack/bottle
Use a pitcher when making the juice
Step 2: Add the soda water and ice
Tip: Best to chill the soda water before mixing
Stir but don’t overdo it as you will lose the bubbles fast.
Pour into a flute and serve immediately.
You can garnish this drink with a calamansi coin
If you have a spring-top bottle, you can prepare this sparkling juice ahead of time and refrigerate them. If you don’t, you must serve it immediately.
Tip: If you can’t find spring-top bottles, buy Gorlsch Beer which comes in this kind of bottle. Use the beer to marinate chicken and reuse the bottle to make sparkling juice.
What better way to welcome an exciting 2013 than sober? If not, add several shots of vodka to the mix and it’ll keep you buzzed longer than the fireworks at midnight! LOL
Cheers to your very good health. May you live to be as old as your jokes!
Shoppingero/shoppingera, what are you grateful for the year 2012?
