70-Second Microwave Teacup Cake (The Best!)

You know that moment when you’re craving for a quick-fix dessert but too lazy to bake (or don’t even know how to bake)? One rainy night (it’s the perfect weather for a warm, moist chocolate cake), Aryanna was craving for chocolate cake and she was on the verge of baking a whole cake just to satisfy her sweet tooth until she stumbled across a simple and delicious recipe that she modified.

I swear, sometimes Aryanna’s laziness can result into something amazing (ugh.)

Ladies and gentlemen, presenting the easiest, yummiest and cutest triple chocolate cake for lazy people:

70-Second Microwave Teacup Cake

Ingredients:

¼ cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. granulated sugar
⅛ tsp. salt
¼ cup + 1 tbsp. milk
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
¼ cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 tbsp. Nutella

Easy peasy:

Step 1: In a medium bowl, whisk together dry ingredients.

Step 2: Whisk in the milk, vegetable oil and half of the chocolate chips until all ingredients are combined and batter has no clumps.

Step 3: Scoop batter into a microwave-safe medium-sized teacup (at least 14 oz). It should have a bit of room for the cake to rise (at least 1-inch allowance).

Important: Be sure that the teacup you are using is microwave-safe. Some teacups, especially the ones with hand-painted designs or metallic details, are not suitable for the microwave. Ceramic teacups are pretty safe.

Step 4: Sprinkle the leftover chocolate chips on top

Step 5: Add 1 tbsp. of Nutella in the middle of the batter. Just drop it in the middle, no need to push it down and sink it in the batter.

Step 6: Microwave tea cup cake for 70 seconds on high

Step 7: Serve with a smile! 🙂

Aaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!! So easy! I can’t believe how moist and delish this cake is!

The ingredients are not as bad as the regular chocolate cake since it doesn’t call for  butter or egg. You can also cut down on the amount sugar and chocolate chips for lesser calories.

Try this recipe and share it with friends and family. Just don’t tell them how easy it is and you’ll surely impress them.

Happy eating!

  1. I tried it now and the recipe is perfect! Moist, not too sweet (I omitted the choco chips since I don’t have any), and perfectly good. I have tried so many microwave cake recipes before and it was always a failure.
Thank you for sharing the recipe.

  2. I tried this recipe with the exact measurements, but my batter comes out liquidy. How come your batter looks like a cookie dough? Any suggestions on how I could fix it?

      Hi Telai!

We’ve been making this recipe a lot and our batter is just right. Are you sure you got all the ingredients right and their measurements?

Good luck on your next try!

      Best,
      Jenni
